The security agencies have also blocked matatus at Ngong Road near the Mbagathi roundabout, only allowing private vehicles to pass through.
The matatus were forced to drop off passengers who then walked on foot towards the CBD.

At the intersection of Uhuru Highway and Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyans were forced to alight and walk into town as police blocked matatus from entering the CBD.
On Valley Road, near the Department of Defence (DOD), police have also restricted access to the CBD. Similar restrictions are in place along State House Road and City Hall Way.

There has also been a heavy deployment of anti-riot police officers in the Nairobi CBD, with police water cannons already in place ahead of the protests.

Officers have been stationed along Kenyatta Avenue, Moi Avenue, and around the National Archives.
Many shops in the Nairobi CBD remain closed, and most of the streets are empty.
