Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced that 5 guns were stolen in Dagoretti during the Wednesday protests.
During a presser on Thursday, June 26, Murkomen stated that there was a plan to target police stations and steal guns.
He noted that investigations were underway to ensure that those who stole the guns were apprehended.
"The criminals were aiming at the officers on duty. They were after guns in the armouries and police uniforms. Five firearms were stolen in Dagoretti Police Post, Kiambu County, while four were burnt at Gachui Police Post by the very criminals who hid behind the pretence of a peaceful protest.
"Government offices, including courts, the National Government, and County Offices, were looted and burnt. Businesses worth billions of shillings were massively looted," he stated.

The CS added that criminals were also planning on stealing police uniforms.
He stated that some of those who stole the uniforms were even sharing the posts on social media platforms such as TikTok.
Consequently, he announced that the detectives would be pursuing those individuals.
Overall, he described the protests as an attempted coup, asserting that some politicians were behind the plans to hire goons for the demonstrations.
"It was terrorism disguised as dissent. There was no peaceful demonstration. It was riots, chaos, and anarchy, and therefore we condemn the criminal anarchists in the name of peaceful demonstrations, who unleashed a wave of violence, looting, sexual assault, and destruction upon our people," he stated.
On his part, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja stated that arrests would be made soon for those who sponsored and looted shops in various towns.
"I want to say to the criminals, we are coming for you and you must have your day in court," the IG announced.
