A series of events to be presided over by the Deputy President William Ruto in Kisii are in limbo after police supervised locals to bring down tents erected for one of the fundraisers in Nyamira.
Several tents erected at Kebirigo Primary School grounds where DP William Ruto was to lead a fundraising event for a Boda Boda Sacco were brought down just before noon.
There was a heavy police contingent at the venue of the event with truckloads of Police officers hovering around Nyamira and at the venue where DP William Ruto was to fundraise.
Those who had turned up for the event were asked to disperse. This happened just a day after the National Security Advisory Council Committee issued a raft of directives that must be complied with by anyone convening a public meeting.

Nyamira is the home of Interior CS Fred Matiang'i. Area MP Vincent Kemosi was to host the DP at the event.
Ruto was to proceed to Kenyenya for similar fundraising scheduled for this Friday. Area politicians led by Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and South Mogirango MP Sylvanus Osoro have been working tirelessly to popularise DP Ruto in the area.
Earlier on Osoro said the leaders planning the events were keen on holding the events across Nyamira and Kisii and would not follow in the Security Council's advisory.
"I am in Gusii preparing for the DP's functions in our two counties. We will not do one or two functions, but five of them within Thursday and Friday. I presume this notice is enough to anyone who needs notice.
"Ignore cancellation rumours of any function. Sisi tumesoma katiba. The constitution CANNOT be subordinate to Acts of Parliament," he wrote on his social media pages.
DP Ruto had also scheduled a series of fundraisers in Kakamega.
