Kenya Railways has announced the suspension of its 10:00 PM Madaraka Express passenger train from Mombasa to Nairobi.

In a statement on Sunday, July 6, the company cited technical issues as the cause, and expressed regret over the disruption in service.

"We regret to notify members of the public that due to technical issues, the Madaraka Express 10PM passenger train from Mombasa to Nairobi has been suspended,” the statement read.

While Kenya Railways did not specify how long the suspension will last, it reassured travelers that safety remains its top priority.

"Kenya Railways prioritizes the safety of our passengers. We apologize for any inconvenience caused,” the statement concluded.

This development comes weeks after the service provider announced the suspension of 4 train services within Nairobi.

The affected train services include Nairobi - Ruiru, Nairobi -Embakasi Village, Nairobi - Lukenya, and Nairobi - Syokimau.

Kenya Railways explained that the services were suspended due to the protests on Wednesday, June 25.

"We wish to notify members of the public that commuter train services for Nairobi- Ruiru, Nairobi-Embakasi village, Nairobi Lukenya, and Nairobi Syokimau have been temporarily suspended.

"We are compelled to take these precautionary measures because the safety of our customers is of paramount importance to us," part of the statement read.
