The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has issued a notice to students experiencing difficulties accessing services through its mobile application.
In a statement on Monday, July 7, HELB acknowledged that some users attempting to log into the app have encountered a message stating that their national ID is already activated on another device.
The board has assured affected students that the issue is being addressed and that support is available to assist with resolving it.
“Seeing an error on the HELB App that your National ID is already activated on another device? Don’t worry! Just send us a direct message with your registered phone number and National ID, and we’ll assist you in getting it resolved quickly,” HELB said.

The difficulty comes days after HELB announced a 72-hour downtime for the Higher Education Financing Portal.
In a statement dated Thursday, July 2, the board stated that the system was undergoing maintenance.
HELB explained that the maintenance was aimed at improving services as KCSE 2024 candidates plan to apply for the loans.
Comrade, the Higher Education Financing Portal is under maintenance to improve service. Downtime will last at least 72 hours. We regret the inconvenience. Thank you," read the statement in part.
Elsewhere, earlier Monday, the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) advised applicants facing challenges in applying for courses to visit designated campuses across the country for support.
In a notice, KMTC stated that officers from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) have been deployed to select campuses to offer guidance and support ahead of the application deadline set for today.
“Applicants who need support or guidance should visit the following KMTC campuses for assistance by KUCCPS officers,” the notice read in part.
