Wambua, a former Machakos-based journalist, was last seen on Friday last week leaving her workplace at Ardhi House at around 10am.
Investigators want to establish whether Wambua was abducted from the city and killed elsewhere before her body was dumped in the Ngong forest.
She was a key witness in a fraud case involving powerful politicians. According to a local publication, she had testified in the Sh122 million fraud case at the Government Advertising Agency and she asked journalists who were in the courtroom not to publish her account.
