The Judiciary has attributed the recent disruption in its digital systems to external interference. 

In a statement issued on Monday, July 14, the Judiciary explained that the disruption, which began on July 10, 2025, temporarily shut down public-facing platforms, including the eFiling system and the Cause List portal.

The external interference that temporarily disrupted network access prompted an emergency response from the Judiciary's technical team.  

“The Judiciary has endeavoured to ensure the uptime of systems despite occasional challenges, most of which have been resolved promptly,” read the statement in part.

The systems were partially restored by Sunday, July 13. However, the Judiciary confirmed that additional technical challenges on Monday, July 14, delayed the full restoration.

In a notice issued early Monday morning, the government arm directed users to an alternative filing process as eFiling services are progressively being restored.

“2,256 criminal cases have been filed and processed during the same period. CauseList Portal is now accessible via https://causelist.court.go.ke,” the earlier statement read.

However, the Judiciary noted that the eFiling platform was still experiencing intermittent outages.

“Our technical team is actively addressing the issue and working to restore full functionality. We will issue a further update once full system stability is achieved,” they assured.

Court users were advised to continue using the interim channels, especially for urgent matters such as Certificates of Urgency or time-bound pleadings, through email communication.
