Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has spoken after being linked to a hit-and-run accident that killed popular blogger Ismail Abdikadir.

Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo has broken his silence after being linked to a hit-and-run accident that killed blogger Ismail Abdikadir.

In a statement on Wednesday, July 16, Guyo noted that despite eyewitnesses and police confirming the nature of the incident, some individuals have attempted to politicize the death.

"We are mourning the recent death of Mr. Ismail Abdikadir, a well-known blogger, who succumbed to injuries after a hit-and-run involving a lorry.

"Despite eyewitness accounts and police confirming the nature of the incident, certain individuals chose to politicize his death, unfairly linking it to my administration without a shred of evidence," the statement continued.

Guyo also addressed links to an arson attack that claimed the lives of Halima Ware and her four children.

"I convey my heartfelt condolences following the tragic fire that claimed the lives of Halima Ware and her four children in Isiolo. This heartbreaking incident has shaken us all.

"Police reports indicate the case stemmed from a domestic dispute, and the late had previously filed a complaint reporting threats to her life. It is disheartening that such a painful moment is being misused for political gain," the statement read.

Guyo also took issue with remarks made in the Senate by Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo, who reportedly linked the tragedies to the governor’s recently nullified impeachment process.

"I must also address the unfortunate remarks made by Senator Fatuma Dullo on the floor of the Senate today. Her attempt to connect these incidents to the recently nullified impeachment process is both irresponsible and misleading. Particularly troubling is her baseless attack on County Commissioner Mr. Geoffrey Omoding, a public servant who has conducted his duties with professionalism and integrity.

"Undermining our security apparatus without evidence weakens public confidence and endangers the very stability we all seek to protect," the statement read.

Guyo further acknowledged the rise in violent crimes in the county in recent weeks, calling for calm as investigations continue.

"Additionally, Isiolo has experienced a rise in isolated cases of killings in recent weeks. These incidents have left families grieving and communities anxious. Investigations are ongoing, and I assure our residents that those responsible will be brought to justice.

"We stand with every family affected and remain committed to restoring security and peace," the statement further read.
