Blogger and IT expert Ndiangui Kinyagia now claims his life is in danger and has asked the court to step in and protect him.
Speaking on Thursday, July 24, after appearing before a judge at the Milimani Law Courts, Kinyagia made two formal requests. One for the adjournment of his case, and the second for the court to extend existing orders barring police from arresting him.
“Your Honour, I would like to request the court for two things. Number one, to seek an adjournment of this case. Number two, to request that Your Honour protect me from arrest by the police,” he pleaded during the court session.
When asked to clarify, Kinyagia explained that he needed time to review an affidavit with his lawyers, Kibe Mungai and Wahome Thuku.
He also reiterated his fear of arrest and insisted the court continue to shield him from police custody.

“Please extend the orders that I may not be arrested by the police,” he urged. “Your Honour, I seek your protection because I fear for my life and for my arrest.”

The plea comes just weeks after Justice Mwita issued interim protection for the blogger on July 3, ruling that police could not arrest or detain him. Instead, if investigators wished to record a statement from him, it was to be done in the presence of his legal team.
Authorities had linked Kinyagia to the June 25 protests, suspecting he may have been behind a widely circulated protest timetable.
For several days, his whereabouts remained unknown, sparking fears that he may have been detained by security agencies, a claim the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) denied.
On July 3, he resurfaced alongside his legal team and disclosed that he had been in hiding, citing safety concerns.
