The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has issued a clarification over the construction of a wall along Kenyatta Avenue, following rising public concerns.
In a statement on Friday, July 25, KURA announced that it is setting up a temporary hoarding wall to enhance public safety during the ongoing construction works along the avenue.
The authority explained that the decision to set up the hoarding wall arose from stakeholder concerns.
“Following stakeholder concerns, the structures along Kenyatta Avenue are part of a temporary hoarding wall to enhance safety during ongoing works.
“Due to the project's complexity, public safety is key. Kindly disregard any misleading information,” said KURA.

On Thursday, the authority announced that it has resumed construction work for the Valley Road–Kenyatta Avenue/Ngong Road/Nyerere Road interchange.
The construction works also include the Upper Hill–Haile Selassie Overpass and upgrades to several associated road networks.
“We’re back on site. Construction has officially resumed on the Valley Road–Kenyatta Avenue/Ngong Road/Nyerere Road Interchange, the Upper Hill–Haile Selassie Overpass, and the associated road network upgrades. We thank you for your continued patience as we Transform Urban Mobility,” KURA announced.
The project, which was initially scheduled for completion in 2023, stalled due to funding challenges. KURA plans to complete the project by October 2025.
The project will feature a dual carriageway stretching approximately 7 kilometers, complete with adjoining road networks and two overpasses.
KURA has also revealed it has incorporated cycle lanes and walkways in the project.
