KeNHA has announced a full closure of a section of the Mwingi-Ukasi Road for more than three months.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a full closure of a section of the Mwingi-Ukasi Road for more than three months.

In a public notice on Friday, July 25, KeNHA said the road will be closed at Kwa-Vii starting Monday, July 28, and will remain inaccessible until Wednesday, November 12.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that Mwingi-Ukasi (A3) Road shall be fully closed at Km 39+400 (Kwa-vii), from Monday 28th July 2025 to Wednesday 12th November 2025," the notice read.

According to KeNHA, the closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of a box culvert.

"This is to allow for construction of a box culvert and motorists are therefore advised to use the designated diversion as indicated in the diversion plan," the notice added.

KeNHA has urged motorists to adhere to the official traffic diversion plan, which will redirect vehicles away from the construction zone.

"KeNHA advises motorists to exercise caution around the work areas, follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the traffic marshals on site," the notice further read.

This comes a week after the Kenya Urban Roads Authority has announced a six-month closure of the Links Road in Nyali, Mombasa County.

In a notice on Tuesday, July 22, KURA said the road will be closed from August 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026.

The authority explained that the closure will allow construction works along the road, aimed at providing a lasting solution to the persistent flooding and drainage challenges affecting the route.

“Kenya Urban Roads Authority seeks to inform the general public of a road closure along Links Road–Nyali in Mombasa County from 6:00 AM on Friday, 1st August 2025, to 6:00 PM on Friday, 30th January 2026 (6 Months).

“This road closure is necessary to facilitate the construction works with the aim of providing a lasting solution to the regular flooding and drainage challenges that usually affect this section of the road,” read the notice in part.

KURA called on motorists to be cautious when approaching the affected section of the road and to follow all road signs provided.
