President William Ruto on Wednesday, July 30, hosted Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Nairobi, in a visit that underscored the growing ties between Kenya and Uganda.
Museveni, who arrived in the capital with a full motorcade, was received by President Ruto, alongside Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja was also present to welcome the Ugandan Head of State.

The visit reflects the deepening partnership between the two East African nations, particularly since the signing of a landmark agreement between Kenya’s Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and the Uganda National Oil Company. This deal paved the way for better relations in general.
In recent years, the relationship between the two leaders has evolved from transactional diplomacy to what many describe as a strategic brotherhood. Their camaraderie has extended beyond official platforms, with the two frequently inviting each other to regional events and sports tournaments.
Museveni’s political influence in the region has also been a subject of speculation. It is widely believed that he played a role in easing political tensions between President Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga, following their much-publicized meeting at Museveni’s farm in Uganda in 2024
The latest meeting in Nairobi adds another chapter to the growing rapport between the two presidents, with discussions expected to touch on regional cooperation, trade, and infrastructure development.
