The Ministry of Education has announced opportunities for Kenyan students to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom under the 2026 Commonwealth Scholarships programme.
In collaboration with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the UK, the ministry is set to nominate five PhD and 19 Master’s degree candidates for fully funded scholarships.
According to the ministry, the scholarships are available for study in any UK university that hosts CSC awardees.
In a notice on Tuesday, August 5, the Ministry of Education said the online application portal will open on September 2, 2025, and will close on October 14, 2025.
Interested applicants are encouraged to carefully review the eligibility criteria and application procedure on the Ministry’s official website, www.education.go.ke.

The Commonwealth Scholarships are postgraduate awards funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the UK.
It is part of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP), established in 1959, which facilitates scholarly exchanges across Commonwealth nations via bilateral arrangements.
The CSC offers different categories of support, including Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships, Commonwealth PhD Scholarships for low-income countries or fragile states, and Commonwealth Split‑site PhD Scholarships for middle-income countries.
Commonwealth Shared Scholarships in partnership with UK universities and agencies, Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships, and Commonwealth Professional Fellowships and Medical Fellowships are also among the categories offered.
