A police officer was killed on Thursday following a scuffle with a fellow officer over a woman in Kitengela. 

A police officer was killed on Thursday, August 7, night after a scuffle with a fellow officer over a woman in Kitengela, Kajiado County. 

A police report seen by Nairobileo.co.ke revealed that the deceased officer, Constable Manaseh Ithiru, who was attached to Kitengela Police Station, was thrown from the balcony of an apartment where he was with a woman believed to be his girlfriend.

The officer had been dropped off at the apartment at around 7 PM by a boda boda operator and instructed the rider to pick him up later.

“It was further established that the deceased had called the bodaboda to drop him at the said apartment at around 1900hrs, and he was to pick him up later. The deceased had visited his girlfriend named Irene Wavinya Nzioka, who is also a tenant at the said apartment, room 416,” read the police report in part.

While the two were inside the apartment, another officer, Sergeant Abubakar Said, attached to the local Critical Infrastructure Police Unit based at the Export Processing Zone in Athi River, also visited the lady.

A scuffle broke out between the two officers over the woman, during which Constable Ithiru was overpowered and thrown out of the house through the balcony.

“While the two were inside the room another man who turned out to be a police officer No.232870 Sgt Abubakar Said attached to CIPU EPZ Camp Athi River also a boyfriend of the same lady visited her house and its believed a scuffle ensued between the two officers over the Lady where by the deceased was overpowered and thrown from the house through the balcony where he met his death,” the report revealed.

Police officers and DCI Personnel who visited the scene found the lifeless body of the deceased officer lying in a pool of blood in the parking lot of the apartment.

The scene was processed and documented by CSI personnel from Kitengela, and the body had multiple injuries, including to the head.

The body of the officer was moved to Shalom Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem examination.

Sgt Abubakar and Irene were arrested pending investigations into the murder incident.
