The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party candidate for Malava Constituency, Enock Musambai Andanje, has died after collapsing at his home.
According to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who confirmed the tragic news on Friday, August 15, Andanje was preparing to attend an empowerment event he was presiding over when he passed away.
According to Mudavadi, the UDA candidate collapsed and died before making it to the function.
"While we have been here, I have received a message that one of us, Enock Musambai Andanje, while preparing to come here, has passed away," he said.
The Malava seat fell vacant following the death of Malulu Injendi who had served as the area MP since 2013 when he transitioned to politics.

In a statement on Monday, February 17, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula said the MP died at the Agha Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
"Hon. Members, it is with profound sadness that I inform you of the demise of our esteemed colleague, the Hon. Moses Malulu Injendi, who left us this evening, 17th February 2025, at 5.15 pm at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
"He was the Member for Malava Constituency and Vice Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education & Research," he said.
Wetang'ula remembered Injendi as a committed leader who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his constituents.
"Hon. Injendi was serving his 3rd term as a Member of the House, having served continuously since 2013 (11th Parliament). He was a dedicated and passionate representative who served his constituents with unwavering commitment and integrity.
"His tireless efforts and contribution to our legislative processes particularly the Education sector and sugar industry aimed at improving the lives of Kenyan people will be deeply missed," he added.
According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), a by-election for the area is set for November 27, 2025.
UDA announced that its party nominations for the upcoming by-elections will be held on September 20, 2025.
In a notice issued by UDA National Elections Board Chairman Anthony Mwaura on Thursday, August 14, the party encouraged all interested aspirants to apply through its online portal.
"Notice is hereby given that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party nominations shall be held on 20th September 2025.
"Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for nomination by registering through the UDA party portal accessible at https://www.uda.ke," the notice read.
According to Mwaura, the registration period opens today, August 14, and will close on September 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
