Deputy President William Ruto has hit out at the Daily
Nation over their lead story in today’s newspaper titled ‘Storm in Cabinet, Ruto
told to quit’.
According to the DP, the story lacks facts and is mere
propaganda.
In a tweet, he laughed off the headline, adding that his
supporters should use the newspaper to wrap meat.
“Cabinet Secretaries challenging who?? To do what??? Hii itumiwe kufunga matumbo na mara!!!!” he posted.
From the newspaper page shared by the DP, it is not clear what the entire Nation story is about, but judging by the headline, speculation is that it is based on Thursday’s Cabinet meeting which was also attended by the DP.
Cabinet Meeting Resolution
According to a statement shared by the Office of the
President, The Cabinet meeting discussed several issues including rising
tension in the country and resolved to form a multi-agency team in-charge of maintain
public order.
“This fast-evolving situation threatens to derail the
delivery of the Administration’s transformative agenda for the Country; as well
as jeopardize Kenya’s image and place within the community of nations, which
has been recently uplifted by Kenya’s membership of the United Nations Security
Council as a non-permanent member.
“To institutionalize the prescriptions and directives issued
by the NSAC, Cabinet approved the establishment and immediate
operationalization of a Multi –Agency Team on Public Order,” the statement
read in part.
