Former Kenyan MP Dies in Dubai

Former Garissa North Member of Parliament (MP) Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf is dead.

According to a statement by Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman, the former legislator popularly known as Tallie passed away on Friday, August 22, while in transit in Dubai.

"I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Garissa North MP Hon. Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf alias Tallie, who passed away earlier today," Osman said in his statement.

The Fafi MP extended his condolences to the deceased's family and loved ones, accompanied by a prayer for the departed.

"I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time, and I pray that Allah grants them strength and patience to bear this loss. May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him an eternal abode in Jannatul Firdaus."

Several political leaders have since condoled with the family of the departed former MP, and many have described him as a dedicated public servant.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale was among the first senior government officials to react to the news, offering prayers for the deceased in his tribute.

"Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. Following the death of our leader and elder Hon. Abdikadir Hassan Yusuf (Tolli), former MP for Garissa North Constituency, we pray: O Allah, forgive him and elevate his station among those who are guided," Duale stated.

Local leaders from Garissa County have also mourned the former legislator, many highlighting his contributions to public service.

Abubakar Mohamed Khalif, the Member of County Assembly for Galbet Ward in Garissa, praised the late MP's dedication to serving his constituents.

"On behalf of myself, my family, and the people of Galbet Ward, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire community of Garissa on the passing of our elder and former Member of Parliament for Garissa North, Hon. Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf (Tolii)," Khalif said.

The MCA described the late politician as a committed leader who left behind a remarkable legacy.

"Hon. Abdikadir was a dedicated leader who served his people with commitment and left a legacy of public service, humility, and wisdom. His contributions to our county and the nation will always be remembered," he noted.

The late Hon. Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf served as the Member of Parliament for Garissa North Constituency, where he was known for his commitment to his constituents and dedication to public service.
