President Ruto has appointed Amani Yuda Komora as the new chairperson of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

President William Ruto has appointed Amani Yuda Komora as the new chairperson of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).  

In a gazette notice dated August 22, Komora will serve in the NPSC chairperson position for a period of six years.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 246 (2) (a) of the Constitution as read with section 6 (8) of the National Police Service Commission Act, 2011, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— Amani Yuda Komora to be the Chairperson of the National Police Service Commission, for a term of six (6) years,” the notice read.

Komora’s appointment comes days after the National Assembly approved his nomination to be NPSC chair.

President Ruto nominated Komora to the position on August 4 and forwarded his name to Parliament for approval.

Komora is the immediate former Vice-Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, where he has served since 2019.

Previously, he served as the General Manager, Human Resource and Administration at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) between 2009 and 2013.

Komora was also a Director at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and a Member of several General Wages Councils.

President Ruto also appointed Angeline Yiamiton Siparo as a Member of the Commission, also for a six-year term.

Siparo was also approved in the National Assembly after the house adopted a report by the Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security on the vetting of the nominees.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 246 (2) (a) of the Constitution as read with section 6 (8) of the National Police Service Commission Act, 2011, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint: Under paragraph 2 (a) (iii)— Angeline Yiamiton Siparo, to be a Member of the National Police Service Commission, for a term of six years,” the gazette notice read.

Siparo previously served as Chairperson of the National AIDS Control Council. Her career spanned work in the Ministry of Health, UNAIDS, and various health-focused international organizations.

Komora and Siparo will now join the other four members of the commission: Doris Ruthoni Kimani, Edwin Chelugei, Benjamin Juma Jinal, and Colleta A. Suda.
