This comes months after a police officer attached to the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) was arrested after he was caught red-handed receiving a bribe of Ksh50,000.
In a statement on Friday, April 11, EACC said the officer identified as Cleophas Kiptoo Koech was apprehended by officials from the agency during a sting operation following a tip-off from a member of the public.
EACC explained that Koech had allegedly demanded the bribe as an inducement not to charge a woman with the offense of discharging effluent from a building.
"Following reports from a complainant that a NEMA officer was demanding a bribe of Ksh50,000 as an inducement not to charge her with the offense of discharging effluent from a building, EACC launched an operation this morning and arrested one Cleophas Kiptoo Koech while receiving the bribe," the EACC said.
