The footage revealed that Kyalo Mbobu left his office on Tuesday, September 9, at 5:11 PM.

CCTV footage has shed light on the final moments of the late lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu before he was brutally gunned down along Magadi Road in Nairobi.

The footage revealed that Mbobu left his office located at the Town House building in Nairobi Central Business District on Tuesday, September 9, at 5:11 PM.

Mbobu, dressed in a suit with a blue shirt and red tie, carried a laptop bag as he walked out of his office and took the elevator to the ground floor.

At 5:14 P.M., Mbobu was captured exiting the lift, bidding farewell to security guards, and leaving the building.

Mbobu then proceeded to his car, which was parked along Kaunda Street. The CCTV also captured a man dressed in black and carrying a bag who was standing outside the premises.

The man was spotted making a phone call as the lawyer walked past him outside the building.

Mbobu drove out of the Nairobi CBD at 5:15 using Wabera Street, Parliament Road, before joining Lang’ata Road and later Magadi Road, where he was assassinated.

The lawyer was killed after a motorcycle-riding gunman approached his stationary vehicle and opened fire.

According to the autopsy report, Mbobu died as a result of severe injuries and over-bleeding from the gunshot wounds sustained during the shooting.

Speaking after conducting a post-mortem examination on the body, Government pathologist Johansen Oduor said Mbobu was shot eight times and that the shooter was at close range during the incident.

Meanwhile, DCI detectives have impounded 2 vehicles and questioned 2 senior officials whom Mbobu met on Tuesday from 11 AM to 1:15 PM.

The investigators are analyzing phone data to establish communication links between the individuals and to determine whether their vehicles were used to trail Mbobu to Magadi Road.

On Thursday, September 11, Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen said detectives investigating Mbobu’s death have made progress and already identified persons of interest.

"Being in a position of responsibility, we have been in touch with the DCI since this issue occurred.

“I am happy to note that progress has been made: some persons of interest have already been identified, they are being interrogated, and many others will also be sought. I pray that the DCI will be successful," he said.
