Gachagua Responds to President Ruto Over 'Uneducated' Remarks [Video]

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hit back at President William Ruto after he mocked his academic qualifications.

Speaking on Saturday, September 13, in Nyeri County, Gachagua sensationally claimed that President Ruto holds a PhD in lying to the public.

The DCP Party leader also accused the President of mismanaging the country despite his education.

“I heard Ruto saying that he is very educated, while I am not. It’s true he studied, he has a PhD in lies, a master’s in theft, a bachelor’s degree in killings, and a diploma in mismanagement.” Said Gachagua.

Earlier on Saturday, during a forum with teachers at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto took a jibe at Gachagua, accusing him of not being well learned.

President Ruto noted that Gachagua would often lament about his level of education when he was in office.

"If you want to succeed, look for a more educated deputy than you. You put people around you who are more intelligent than you.

“When they help you shine, you take the credit while they do the work. I had another one who kept complaining that he was not learned, and then I realised he was going to fail me," Ruto said.

The Head of State heaped praise on his current deputy, Professor Kithure Kindiki, lauding his intelligence and know-how.

But even as Ruto took the jibe at Gachagua, the latter has never shied away from admitting his lack of proper education.

Gachagua holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Literature from the University of Nairobi (UoN).
