Police have arrested five people in connection with a violent carjacking incident that resulted in the theft of goods valued at over Ksh 5.4 million.
In a statement released by the Kenya National Police (NPS) on Tuesday, September 16, the NPS stated that a multi-agency security operation in Embu North successfully recovered a large stolen consignment of Colgate products.
The goods were stolen during a violent carjacking in the Gathoge area of Kirinyaga County, where five armed suspects attacked a company driver transporting the products.
Following intelligence gathered from members of the public, security officers conducted a raid in the Mutunduri area, reclaiming hundreds of boxes containing toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergents, and fabric softeners.
During the raid, two vehicles believed to have been used to transport the stolen goods were also impounded as part of the evidence.

The vehicles are currently undergoing forensic examination to establish their connection to other regional criminal activities.
The five suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned in court to face charges related to violent robbery and handling stolen property.
Investigators are working to determine if the suspects are part of a larger criminal network operating along major transport routes.
The National Police Service has commended the swift coordination between various security agencies that made the successful operation possible. The multi-agency approach involved officers from different departments tracking down the perpetrators and recovering the stolen merchandise.
In a different arrest, a multi-agency security team consisting of officers from the National Police Service based at Mulika Police Station and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) conducted a successful operation on September 16, 2025, targeting illicit brews, narcotic drugs, and illegal gambling within Kang'ethia village.
The operation resulted in the arrest of one suspect found in possession of 260 liters of chang'aa (locally known as Muna) and apparatus used in the manufacture of illicit alcohol.
The National Police Service has acknowledged the close working relationship with the National Government Administration and commended officers for their relentless fight against illicit brews and narcotic drugs.
