Police Officers have arrested 5 suspects in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, in possession of government stores.
In a statement on Thursday, September 18, the National Police Service (NPS) said the officers were patrolling near the PEFA Church on Wednesday and stopped two middle-aged men who were acting suspiciously.
The officers searched one of the suspects and recovered a pair of handcuffs concealed in his jacket pocket. The second suspect attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended.
“Officers from Ongata Rongai Police Station in Kajiado County, who were on patrol near the PEFA Church yesterday, arrested two suspicious middle-aged men.
“A search of one suspect led to the recovery of a pair of handcuffs concealed in his jacket pocket. The second suspect, who initially attempted to escape, was apprehended after a brief pursuit,” read the statement in part.

The two suspects were interrogated and alleged that they obtained the handcuffs from another person, whose whereabouts were known to them.
The duo led officers to the Kware area, where a raid on a premises uncovered four spent cartridges and a police baton.
Three more suspects were arrested during the raid, bringing the total number of arrests to five. The recovered items were secured as exhibits.
“This operation highlights the need for constant vigilance and firm action by the National Police Service to ensure that tools which could be misused to facilitate violent crime are removed from the wrong hands and that those involved are brought to justice,” NPS added.

The products were stolen during a violent carjacking in Kirinyaga County, where a company driver transporting the consignment was ambushed.
The officers raided the Mutunduri area, seizing hundreds of boxes of toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergents, and fabric softeners.
The police also impounded two vehicles suspected of being used in ferrying the stolen items.
The five suspects are in custody, awaiting arraignment in court.
