Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has ruled out the possibility of being anyone’s running mate in the 2027 general election.
In an interview on Thursday, September 25, he noted that his years of sacrifice in Kenyan politics cannot be reduced to another deputy role.
"I don’t think I would be a running mate in 2027. It is too late for any games to be played against me. In my entire personality, I have sacrificed, but I can’t sacrifice enough for this country," he stated.
Kalonzo insisted that he is fully committed to contesting for the top seat, describing the upcoming election as a make-or-break moment in his political journey.
"I am going for the presidency. It is now or never; if I don’t go for it now, I will never go for it. If I go for it now and my colleagues give me the flagship, believe you me, I will not disappoint," he declared.

Kalonzo also dismissed speculation that he could be negotiating with President William Ruto’s administration for a potential running mate position under the Kenya Kwanza alliance in 2027.
"I have made it very clear, never, there is no such thing, and it will not happen. It will be William Ruto versus Kalonzo Musyoka, God willing," he affirmed.

On whether he would consider taking up a government job if offered by Ruto, Kalonzo reiterated that he has no interest in any appointment and vowed to remain aligned with the people.
"No way, not Kalonzo Musyoka. I will not take any job. There hasn’t been an offer, and I hope there will be none. I choose to be with the Kenyan people, I will never betray Kenyans," he further said.
This comes barely a week after Kalonzo dismissed rumors suggesting he has stepped down from the 2027 presidential race.
Speaking on Friday, September 19, Kalonzo dismissed the speculation, attributing it to his rivals and affirming he is still in the race.
'When did these claims of me stepping down from the 2027 Presidential elections emerge? I know all my enemies are suffering, because they know I will definitely be on the ballot come 2027, God willing," he said.
Elsewhere, on Wednesday, September 24, Kalonzo announced that he will not attend the ODM 20th anniversary celebrations despite receiving a personal invitation from party leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking in a press briefing, Kalonzo explained that the date clashes with an important Wiper party engagement.
"Raila Odinga has written me a letter, a very nice one, inviting me to the event, which will even include a dinner on October 10th. Unfortunately, I am going to reply that on the 10th we will be having the National Delegates Congress of the Wiper Patriotic Front," he said.
Kalonzo further conveyed goodwill towards the ODM leader and the party’s milestone, adding that President William Ruto will be invited to the event.
"I wish them well. I also gather that William Ruto will be invited as a founding member, but I will not be there," he added.
