Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has expressed sorrow following the death of Mary Nyachae, daughter of the late former Cabinet Minister, Simeon Nyachae.
In an update on Wednesday, October 8, Matiang’i sent his message of condolence to Mary’s family and to all those who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
"It is with deep sadness that I have learnt of the passing of Mary Nyachae, daughter of the late patriarch, Mzee Simeon Nyachae.
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Nyachae family and their friends. May the Lord grant you strength, comfort, and grace during this difficult time. Mary’s memory will live on through the lives she touched and the warmth she shared with those around her," he said.
Mary was thrust into the limelight in 2022 when her property was auctioned to recover a loan amounting to Ksh750,000 owed to a Nairobi-based lawyer.

According to court documents, the lawyer had sued Mary in 2021 after she failed to refund the money he used to clear her outstanding medical bills at Nairobi Hospital.
The dispute led to a ruling by the Small Claims Court which authorized the attachment of her property to recover the unpaid amount.
The court granted an application by the lawyer allowing police to supervise the execution of the auction process.
The order directed the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Kilimani Police Station to facilitate the auctioneers’ entry into Nyachae’s residence on Dennis Pritt Road.
"For the purpose of entry, maintaining peace and order and to witness the execution of the warrants of attachment and sale issued by the small claims court at Nairobi on 27th October, 2021 to recover Ksh759,671 together with cost of attachment and interest accrued,” the order read in part.
