The ODM Party is in mourning following the death of Mombasa County Organizing Secretary, Peter Odhiambo.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is in mourning following the death of its Mombasa County Organizing Secretary, Peter “Rainbow” Odhiambo.

Odhiambo’s death was confirmed by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir on Thursday, October 9 night.

In a condolence message on behalf of ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga, Governor Nassir mourned Odhiambo as a passionate mobilizer who was dedicated to justice and unity in the party.

“On behalf of our Party Leader, H. E. Raila Amolo Odinga, I convey our deepest condolences to the ODM family and the people of Mombasa following the passing of our County Organizing Secretary, Peter “Rainbow” Odhiambo.

“Peter was a committed and passionate party mobilizer whose dedication to the ideals of justice, unity, and service left an indelible mark on the ODM movement in Mombasa and beyond. His energy, loyalty, and unwavering belief in the cause of the people will be sorely missed,” Nassir stated.

The Mombasa Governor also extended his condolences to Odhiambo’s family, friends, and the entire ODM fraternity.

“We join his family, friends, and the entire ODM fraternity in mourning this great comrade. May his memory continue to inspire us to strengthen the movement he so faithfully served. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.

Odhiambo’s passing away comes months after ODM lost two long-serving members, Shadrack Arap Siele and Mama Everlyne Cheluget.

In a statement, ODM eulogized Siele and an old and trusted ally of Raila and the father of ODM in Kericho County.

“A good soul has flown away to be with the Lord. Mzee Shadrack Arap Siele was not new to Orange House and presently Chungwa House. An old and trusted friend of the Party Leader, Raila Odinga, A patriarch of his family, and the father of ODM in Kericho and South Rift. RIP Mzee Siele,” ODM stated.

The party also mourned Chelugut as a founder and life member of the party from Uasin Gishu County.

ODM said Chelugut took part in the activities of the party and was active in its operations until the week of her demise.

"She has, until her death last week, been an active member of the party and always participated in party activities. ODM has lost a gem, a loving and caring mother," the party stated.
