KURA has announced a 17-day traffic disruption along a section of Likoni Road. 

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a 17-day traffic disruption along a section of Likoni Road in Nairobi.

In a statement on Wednesday, October 15, KURA said the affected stretch will be between British American Tobacco (BAT) and the Jogoo Road Junction. 

The traffic disruption along the section will run from October 15 to Friday, October 31, 2025.

The authority explained that the disruption is due to rehabilitation works along the busy road.

“Likoni Road (BAT Industries–Jogoo Road Junction) to experience delays from 15th to 31st October 2025 due to road rehabilitation works,” the notice read in part.

KURA advised motorists to use Lunga Lunga Road, Outer Ring Road, Enterprise Road, and Lusaka Road to get to their destinations.

“Kindly use alternative routes: Lunga Lunga, Outer Ring, Enterprise & Lusaka Roads. We apologise for the inconvenience,” KURA added.

The notice comes days after KURA announced a two-day temporary closure of Jamuhuri Road.

In a notice on Thursday, October 9, KURA Director General Silas Kinoti said the road will be closed from Friday, October 10, at 11 PM to Sunday, October 12, 2025.

He explained that the road closure was to facilitate the construction of drainage and sewer infrastructure, which is part of the Talanta Sports City Project at Jamhuri Sports Grounds.

“The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) wishes to notify the general public of the closure of Jamhuri Road from 8:00 PM on Friday, 10th October 2025, to 11:00 PM on Sunday, 12th October 2025.

“This is due to the construction of essential drainage and sewer infrastructure as part of the Talanta Sports City Project at Jamhuri Sports Grounds,” the notice in part.

The authority advised motorists to use Sanctuary Road and Kibera Drive to reach their destinations.
