Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has called for the removal of Edwin Sifuna as ODM Secretary General, accusing him of undermining the party's cooperation with President William Ruto's administration.
In a statement on Sunday, October 19, Senator Cherargei claimed that Sifuna poses the greatest obstacle to ODM's political growth and future prospects, demanding his ouster by the end of 2025.
"The entire ODM leadership except Sifuna have confirmed that Baba Raila Odinga instructed them to stay and work with President Ruto's administration under the broad-based government," Cherargei stated.
The Nandi Senator went further, labeling Sifuna as ‘a mole of the united opposition in ODM, suggesting that the Nairobi Senator's stance contradicts the party's official position on working with the government.
"The biggest threat to the growth of ODM-whether to be in government or to form government in the future-is Sifuna and company. By the end of this year 2025, he must be removed from ODM as Secretary General," Cherargei declared.

The remarks come amid growing tensions within ODM over the party's relationship with the Ruto administration.
While some party leaders have embraced the broad-based government approach, Sifuna has maintained a different position.
Speaking at the ODM leader Raila Odinga’s funeral on Sunday, Sifuna emphasized that ODM would not play a subordinary role to any political party in the 2027 elections.
He referenced statements made by party leader Raila Odinga in September, insisting that the former Prime Minister had directed ODM to prepare for the upcoming general election.
"Baba said that ODM must prepare for the 2027 General Election," Sifuna told attendees, warning fellow leaders against attributing false statements to the party leader.
The Secretary General's stance appears to clash with other ODM officials who have publicly supported closer cooperation with President Ruto's Kenya Kwanza administration.
"Baba Raila Odiga spoke openly to the country on September 22 to the ODM MPs. I asked leaders not to come up with non-existent statements. Baba said that ODM must prepare for the 2027 General Election. To those spreading non-existent pronouncements, Baba wondered where you got all that from," Sifuna said.
