The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced that it has shortlisted 34 candidates for the position of Resident Kadhi.
In a notice on Wednesday, November 12, JSC Secretary Winfridah Mokaya said the recruitment process attracted hundreds of applicants after the positions were advertised earlier this year.
"On 9th June 2025, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) advertised five (5) posts of Resident Kadhi. The advertisement attracted a total of 261 applicants," the notice read.
Mokaya stated that the commission has now concluded the shortlisting stage and will announce the interview dates in due course.
"Following the review of applications, the JSC shortlisted 34 candidates. Dates for the selection interviews will be communicated to the candidates," the notice added.

The list includes Hassan Makokha, Abubakar Muhsin Ali, Ahmed Abdulhafidh Karama, Hussein Muktar Hilowle, Osman Duba Molu, Adhan Mohamed Shide, Abdulqadir Ibrahim Alareimy, Abubakar Abdu Maka, Mohamed Ali Omar, and Ibrahim Gollo Wako.
Others are Faki Said Mkanga, Siasa Idd Ngare, Hasan Yusuf Akasi, Feisal Hatib Ali, Ashraf Onyango Saleh, Ali Salim Said, Hassan Mohamed Gure, Abubakar Jirma Duba, Abdisatar Abdi Ibrahim, and Ali Hassan Okunne.
Also shortlisted are Abdallah Ronald Akuku, Adan Ahmed Dakat, Juma Dokata Diba, Saidi Shabani Mwagoti, Yassir Abdulkadir Shaibu, Elijah Cheruiyot Maritim, Abdiwahab Sanbur Adan, Abdirahman Dekow Guhad, Adan Ali Maalim, and Ahmed Abdikarim Abdirahman.
Others are Mohamed Abdikher Kulmiye, Abdijimal Mohamed Abdirahman, Mohamed Sheikh Ismail, and Abdulkarim Abubakar Shekue.

This comes two weeks after JSC announced the appointment of a Deputy Chairperson and several new members to the Sports Disputes Tribunal.
In a gazette notice, Chief Justice Martha Koome, who also serves as the chairperson of the JSC, revealed the appointment of Allan Mola Owinyi as the Deputy Chairperson of the Sports Disputes Tribunal.
His term is set to run from October 7, 2025, to May 16, 2030.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 55 (3) and 56 of the Sports Act, the Judicial Service Commission appoints Allan Mola Owinyi to be the Deputy Chairperson of the Sports Disputes Tribunal, with effect from the 7th October, 2025, until the 16th May, 2030," the notice read.
A separate notice also outlined the appointment of five members who will serve alongside Owinyi in the tribunal.
The newly appointed members include Eddie Omondi, Victor Obwaya Omwebu, Aleli Peris Mukoko, Nicodemus Kimanthi Musau, and Luke Wamugunda Irungu.
Their appointments take effect from September 15, 2025, for a term of five years.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 55 (2) (b) and (e) and 56 of the Sports Act, the Judicial Service Commission appoints Eddie Omondi, Victor Obwaya Omwebu, Aleli Peris Mukoko, Nicodemus Kimanthi Musau and Luke Wamugunda Irungu to be Members of the Sports Disputes Tribunal, for a term of five (5) years, with effect from the 15th September, 2025," the notice read.
