Fifteen people died after two buses collided head-on at Kizingo area along the Malindi-Mombasa highway.
Police said the accident involved two buses; a Sabaki Travellers Sacco matatu and a Muhsin bus. One of the buses was coming from Malindi and the other was heading to Gede.
Kilifi County Commissioner Kutswa Olaka said the Muhsin bus lost control following a tyre burst, leading to the crash.
Witnesses said among those who lost their lives in the accident included Kilifi County officers who were headed to work.
Malindi sub-county hospital is currently attending to victims of the Wednesday morning crash.
