This comes a day after SHA issued an update to all teachers across the country as preparations continue for the rollout of the new Comprehensive Mwalimu Medical Cover.
In a notice on Sunday, November 23, SHA urged teachers to confirm or update their dependents before December 1, when the scheme takes effect.
"Dear Teachers, SHA welcomes you to the new Comprehensive Mwalimu Medical Cover. Please confirm and/or update your dependents by dialling *147# or by visiting sha.go.ke, afyayangu.go.ke. The medical scheme will be active, effective 1st Dec 2025," the notice read.
Prior to that, SHA guided individuals who may have accidentally paid the wrong premium amount through M-Pesa.
In a statement on Thursday, November 20, the authority said affected contributors can request a refund by following a simple verification process.
To apply for a refund, individuals must submit a copy of their M-Pesa statement showing the incorrect payment, a copy of their National or Alien ID or passport, and a signed letter addressed to the CEO of SHA formally requesting the refund.
Submissions can be made electronically by sending scanned copies to [email protected] or [email protected].
Alternatively, the original documents can be dropped off at any SHA County Office or Huduma Centre nationwide.
SHA noted that all documents must be clear and legible, adding that refunds will only be processed after verification of the submitted information.
