The Mount Kenya University has released its academic calendar for the January-April 2026 semester, outlining key dates for both new and continuing students.

In a notice released on Monday, December 1, the university informed students of critical dates to mark on their calendars as the new semester approaches.

According to the announcement, new students (freshers) are expected to report to campus between January 5 and 9, 2026.

This will be followed by an orientation session for new students scheduled for January 10, 2026, to help them familiarize themselves with the university environment and academic expectations.

Continuing students have been given a slightly extended reporting window, with their return to campus scheduled between January 10 and 11, 2026.

The commencement of teaching and learning activities for all students is set for January 12, 2026.

The university has also announced that the deadline for online unit registration is February 6, 2026, urging students to complete this process within the stipulated timeframe to avoid any academic complications.

In a separate communication dated November 24, Mount Kenya University reminded students about compliance with the institution's fee payment policy.

According to the policy, students are required to have paid at least 80% of their fees by November 25, 2025, to remain in good standing with the university.

“Please note the following with regard to fee payment compliance: That according to the fee payment policy, you are supposed to have paid at least 80% of the fees by the 25th of November, 2025,” the university noted.

The university also announced that preparations for the upcoming graduation ceremony are in full swing, with the gown collection deadline set for Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Graduating students have been advised to ensure they complete their graduation checklist, which includes collecting their graduation gown, hood, and cap, and obtaining invitation cards.

The 28th Graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, 5th December, 2025.
