The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has predicted rainfall across 6 regions this week.
In a weather forecast on Tuesday, December 9, the Met Department said rainfall will be experienced in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and the Coast regions.
The North-eastern and South-eastern lowlands regions will also receive showers this week.
However, the weatherman said most parts of the country will be sunny and dry throughout the week.
“Most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry. However, rainfall is expected in a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Coast, North-eastern and the South-eastern lowlands,” read the forecast in part.

In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with afternoon and nighttime showers expected in a few areas.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley are expected to experience cloudy mornings, with light rains over a few places, giving way to sunny intervals. Occasional afternoon and night showers are likely over a few places.
The Coast region, on the other hand, is expected to experience sunny intervals during the day, with a chance of morning, afternoon, and nighttime showers occurring in a few areas.
The Met Department also forecasted daytime maximum average temperatures of more than 30°C in the Coast, North-eastern, North-western Kenya as well as over some parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.
Meanwhile, the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and the areas in the vicinity of Mt. Kilimanjaro will experience nighttime minimum temperatures of less than 10°C.
In the previous review on December 2, KMD predicted showers in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, and the South-eastern Lowlands.
The weatherman noted that during the period, the highest seven-day rainfall totaling 59.5mm was recorded at Isiolo NEMA station in Isiolo County.
The same Rainfall Station also recorded the highest amount of rainfall within 24 hours of 49.2mm on December 7, 2025.
“Comparing the 24th to 30th November 2025 and the 1st to 7th November 2025 periods, it is noted that rainfall amounts continued to decrease across the country,” KMD stated.
The Wajir Meteorological Station recorded the highest daily maximum temperature of 37.3°C on December 1, 2025, while the Narok Meteorological Station recorded the lowest daily minimum temperature of 4.9°C on December 2, 2025.
