Veteran British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Editor Odhiambo Joseph has quit after 17 years.

The news of his resignation was announced by BBC Swahili Editor Caroline Karobia during a staff meeting.

Until his resignation, Odhiambo was the Editor of the Swahili flagship program Dira ya Dunia which airs weekdays from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

According to Odhiambo, he has had some personal issues in the last few years that have forced him to take a break from the career he has enjoyed over the last  20 plus years

A section of colleagues who spoke to this journalist described the outgoing editor as humble and one of the key pillars at BBC swahili.

In December 2021,  Immanuel Muasya, a senior journalist for BBC's Africa Health team., exited the British media house.

"I’d like to inform you that Immanuel Muasya, Senior journalist on our Africa Health team, is leaving the BBC. Immanuel has been the lead producer of our flagship Health programme ‘Life Clinic’ since its launch in 2018.

"He was also a part of the launch teams that did the piloting groundwork ahead of the launch of the BBC Africa genre programmes. The teams greatly benefitted from his creativity and content-making skills," the email read in part.
