Duale claimed Chiloba is a state operative appointed to the authority to aid in influencing the outcomes of next general elections

Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale has warned the Communication Authority of Kenya CEO Ezra Chiloba against alleged plans to use the ongoing Sim Registration exercise to carry out an elections fraud in the August general polls.

Speaking on Saturday in Karen Nairobi, Duale claimed that ongoing sim card registration exercises across the country are a hidden plot by the Communications Authority to interfere with internet connection in the country during the general polls.

According to the Ruto allied legislator, Chiloba is a state operative who was appointed to the helm of the authority to aid in influencing the outcomes of the August 9, general elections.

"We are warning you Chiloba, we know why you have been put in that position and we are going to monitor you closely. We know what you want to do on the polling day as far as the internet is concerned, we know the data you are collecting and we know you are working for the deep state...we will flag you" claimed Duale.

Duale attributed the recent change of heart by Chiloba to his Friday night tweet, claiming he is the reason why the CEO was forced to come out and clarify that not all Kenyans are required to register afresh.

This was after Duale warned that Kenyans will not be forced to register afresh. While taking on Safaricom, Duale warned that he will take legal action against the company should they disconnect his sim card, yet they have all his details as Safaricom's postpaid customer.

"Dear @SafaricomPLC, I received your text to update my SIM Card registration to avoid disconnection. You have my ID Card and all details with which the SIM Card was registered as a postpaid customer. I will take legal action against you, should my line be disconnected. " read Duale's Friday evening post.

The Authority had earlier warned that Kenyans whose sim cards will not be registered risk attracting a fine of Ksh300,000. This caused a public uproar forcing the CEO to backtrack and come out to clarify the same.

The authority said the ban will only affect unregistered lines and not all users of the various network service providers as presumed before.

Chiloba urged Kenyans to confirm their registration details by dialing *106# without having to make visits to agents or other certified service provider outlets. This was after long queues were experienced in most of the Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom shops across the country.

The deadline for sim registration still remains on April 15.
