Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha released the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary School Education (KCPE) at Mitihani House in Nairobi on April 15, 2021.
1,179,192 candidates sat for the 2020 KCPE national exams.
It is the first time the exams are being released in April when the country is busy managing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Magoha commended the 2020 candidates for their performance which he says is no different from that of the former year.
Magoha revealed that all the candidates will be admitted to secondary schools, translating to a 100 percent transition.
"All the 1,179,192 candidates whose results we are releasing today will be admitted to secondary schools under the Government’s 100 percent transition policy. I wish to assure the country that the Ministry has already conducted an audit of all new and existing vacancies in all our private and public schools to enable us to admit all learners under the Free Day Secondary Education programme.
"We are determined to work with the relevant agencies to ensure that no candidate misses a place in secondary school," Magoha stated.
He assured that no candidate will miss out on secondary schools. He urged parents to take care of their children and ensure all of them are able to take up the spaces they are admitted to.
Selection for form one students will be conducted on May 28, 2021.
Public Schools performed better than Private schools in the 2020 exams. 10 of the top 15 schools were public schools.
Magoha praised teachers for their efforts to use the assessment tests to prepare the candidates for the exams.
