Senior Counsel Fredrick Ngatia has revealed that he had ended his working relationship with client President Uhuru Kenyatta after representing him in the contested 2017 Presidential election.
Appearing before the Judicial Service Commission on Tuesday morning, Ngatia said he cut his relationship with him after representing him in the election petition and he’s not in any way influenced by the President.
"The President, like any other Kenyan, was entitled to legal representation. I am not ashamed of representing him. I am in fact proud he entrusted me with a case of such magnitude," Ngatia said.
"Despite acting for President Uhuru in 2013 and 2017, as soon as the brief was over, that relationship me acting for the president was over, I went back to my private practice - SnR Counsel Fred Ngatia on representing Pres. Uhuru Kenyatta," he continued.
Ngatia is a seasoned lawyer linked to some of the biggest and landmark cases in the country.
He successfully represented Jubilee Alliance in the 2013 presidential petition at the Supreme Court. He was also named among the world’s top legal professionals of the year 2011.
The Senior Counsel was also part of President Kenyatta's legal counsel in the 2017 presidential election petition emerged top in the ranking by Chambers and Partners.
Ngatia also represented the Late George Saitoti at the Goldenberg Commission of Inquiry where he also won the case.
