Jubilee Party Secretary Raphael Tuju, who also doubles up as a Cabinet Secretary without portfolio, has denied claims of a crisis in the Cabinet following a recent court decision on its legality.
Speaking on Tuesday night, Tuju also took issue with the court’s ruling terming the position of Chief Administrative Secretary illegal.
On Tuesday, High Court judge Antony Mrima issued a ruling indicating that Cabinet Secretaries who served in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s first administration, should have been subjected to fresh vetting before assuming office for the second term.
Justice Mrima also noted that the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) created by President Uhuru Kenyatta is illegal.
In addition, the judge also directed that Principal Secretaries who were not competitively appointed as stipulated by the Constitution are in office illegally.

Reacting to the ruling, Tuju allayed fears of a crisis in Cabinet, noting that there is no panic in government following the ruling.
Tuju maintained that the Head of State followed the due process in his appointments, adding that they’ll review the ruling and agree on the best way forward, which he said could be an appeal.
“I can assure you that there is no panic in the cabinet and I can assure you that there is no effect of this particular ruling until after 29th of May… If at all we are in disagreement with it, which I think we are, there is an appellate process,” he said.
If the ruling takes effect, eight Cabinet Secretaries including; Amina Mohammed (Sports), Raychelle Omamo (Foreign Affairs), Fred Matiang’i (Interior), Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) among others will be affected.
