The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has
announced that class eight and grade four students who reported to school on
Monday October 12, 2020 will sit their end of term one exams from Monday October
19, 2020.
In a statement on Monday, KNEC boss Mercy Karogo noted that
the exams were set to happen a couple of days before the unfortunate closure of
schools due to the corona virus pandemic.
Explaining what will be examined since students have been
out of school for close to seven months now, she divulged that the exams will
incorporate content learned in different classes. For example, those in grade four
will be tested tor lessons learned from grade one till where they were before
the pandemic.
“Standard Eight and Grade Four assessments will be
administered from October 19 to 23, 2020. Assessments for other classes will be
conducted upon reopening of specific classes.
“For all subjects or learning areas, assessment items will be drawn from previous classes/grades and term one of the current class/grade,” Karogo said.

Meanwhile, class 8, grade 4 and form 4 students across the
country reported back to school on Monday October 12, after staying home for
over six months.
Most school reported limited activity, with some parents
still skeptical about taking their children back to school.
The Ministry of Education has put in place measures to stop
the spread of the virus, and has directed head teachers to close monitor
students with pre-existing conditions.
Some of the measures put in place include; use of masks, sanitizers and hand washing stations, social distancing and no handshakes.
