Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company has announced that a number of estates in the city are set to have their water supply interrupted as the company works on repairing some of its equipment.

Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company has announced that a number of estates in the city are set to have their water supply interrupted as the company works on repairing some of its equipment.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Nairobi water noted that the shutdown will run from Thursday, October 15, 2020, at 6 a.m to Friday, October 16 at 6 p.m.

“Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company would like to inform our esteemed customer that there will be shutdown of the Ng’ethu water treatment plant from Thursday October 15, 2020, at 6 a.m. to Friday, October 16 at 6 p.m.

“This will facilitate major repair/ and maintenance works at Mwagu water intake along Chania River from where we abstract raw water to the water treatment works in preparation of the coming short rains,” the statement read in part.


List of areas to be affected

In the announcement, Nairobi water noted that the following areas and estates will be affected by the shutdown:

Estates along Juja Road, Mlango Kubwa, the whole of Mathare, Eastleigh Airforce, Huruma, Kariobangi, Pangani and the entire Eastleigh.

Estate along Kangundo Road including; Ruai, Kayole, Komarock Estate and Njiru.

Estates along Limuru Road; Parklands, Ngara Area, Aga Khan Hospital, University of Nairobi- school of business and City Park area, Muthaiga and Gigiri.

Estates along Lang'ata and Ngong Road; Karen, Kawangware, Lang'ata, Riruta, Kibera and sections of Westlands.

Estates along Naivasha and Kikuyu Roads; Waithaka and Dagoretti.

Estates along Jogo Road;  Maringo, Buruburu, Bahati and other surrounding areas.

Estates along Outer- ring Road; Baba Dogo, Dandora, Dandora KCC factory, Umoja, Donholm, Fedha, Tassia, Avenue Park, Nyayo Embakasi.

Estates along Thika Road; Kenya Breweries, Kenyatta University, Kahawa Barracks, Kasarani, Mwiki, Garden and Thome Estates.

Other areas to be affected include; the whole of city centre, University of Nairobi Main Campus, Coca Cola Factory, JKIA, EPZ - Athi River, South B, South C and the entire Industrial area.
