Wanga urged Azimio supporters to pray for Raila Odinga for the announcement of the results by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati.

Newly elected Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has indicated that the Azimio legal team could be heading to the Supreme Court after William Ruto was declared President-elect.

In a statement via Facebook on Tuesday, August 16, Wanga urged Azimio supporters to pray for Raila Odinga for the announcement of the results by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati.

She sensationally claimed that the declaration by Chebukati at the Bomas of Kenya was not legit.

"I am aware that many of you are currently hurting and struggling with disappointment and lack of clarity over what happened yesterday. As a strong supporter of Baba, I share your disappointment. I am hurt at a very personal level. What transpired yesterday is monumental electoral fraud that has also been likened to a civilian coup.

"Our very able legal team has assured us that the irregularities, the election malpractices and the lack of transparency with which Chairman Wafula Chebukati conducted the Commission’s business are so glaring that yesterday’s declaration cannot stand. That the exercise was deeply flawed was confirmed by four commissioners who constitute majority of the IEBC commission. So this matter is not over. The last word about it has not been spoken. The legal team has assembled and will be doing everything possible to ensure the right winner is declared. In the meantime, let’s stand firmly behind Baba and pray for him.

Martha Karua

Azimio presidential candidate Odinga is yet to comment on the presidential results that were announced by Chebukati.

On the other hand, Azimio deputy running mate Martha Karua tweeted immediately after the results were announced saying," It is not over till it is over."

IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati declared Ruto President-elect after he garnered 7,176,141 million votes which is 50.49% nationally against his arch-rival Raila Odinga who got 6,942,930 votes 48.85%.
