Diamond Platnumz Message to Kenyans After Ruto Was Declared President-Elect

Tanzania's sensational singer Diamond Platnumz has asked Kenyans to maintain peace following the conclusion of the election exercise.

Diamond, who elicited mixed reaction after preforming at ODM leader Raila Odinga's final rally in Kasarani, said it is time for Kenyans to unite and build a united country.

He asked Kenyans to burry their differences and work together as a united country.

 “Pongezi sana Wana Kenya kwa kuhitimisha Zoezi la Uchaguzi na kupata Rais leo. Sasa hivi si Team Ruto, Wajakoya ama Team Odinga, ni Pamoja Team Kenya,” he wrote on his Instagram page.

“Ili kwa pamoja kuendeleza maendeleo ya Kenya na Wana Kenya Kwa Ujumla.”

The statement comes after William Ruto was declared President-elect on Monday evening.

Ruto's United Democratic Alliance candidate garnered 7,176,141 votes (50.49 per cent), defeating Azimio flag bearer Raila Odinga who won 6,942,930 votes (48.85 per cent).

He exceeded the 50 per cent plus 1 threshold.

The declaration of Ruto as President-elect was made by chairman Wafula Chebukati of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission after nearly six days of tallying at the Bomas of Kenya.

Of the 47 counties, Ruto garnered more than 25 per cent of the votes cast in 39, exceeding the minimum 24 counties required by the Constitution. Raila achieved 25 per cent of the votes cast in 34 counties.
