A Special Senate Committee has recommended the removal of Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi.

The Senate is now set to vote after the 11-member special committee recommended the removal of Governor Abdi by impeachment.

On Monday the 11- member panel found him guilty of grossly violating the Constitution, County Government, Public Procurement and Asset Disposal and Public Finance Management acts.

A Meru Court had temporarily barred the impeachment debate of Governor Abdi as the Wajir County Assembly was set to begin the impeachment debate but the court has stopped the love until the hearing of a case filed.

MCAs filed a notice of motion at the county assembly to impeach governor Abdi over allegations of gross misconduct.

He was accused of ignoring the agreement they had with him when they dropped the first motion of impeachment they had filed against him.

The Ward Representatives accused Governor Abdi of failing to provide quarterly expenditure reports to the county assembly as required by the Public Finance Management Act.

Additionally, MCAs said the Abdi's administration failed to release over kSh70 million intended for operations of the county assembly.

In 2020, governor Abdi faced impeachment after MCAs accused him of corruption, gross misconduct, and abuse of office.
