Police have arrested five suspected members of a criminal gang accused of terrorising residents in several estates within Kisumu East Sub-County during an intelligence-led midnight operation.
In a statement released on Friday, August 7, the National Police Service (NPS) said officers from Migosi Police Station raided a suspected gang hideout in a deserted house in the Corner "S" area of Kasule Sub-Location, Kolwa Central.
"The midnight raid, conducted by officers from Migosi Police Station, targeted a known gang hideout located in a deserted house in the Corner 'S' area of Kasule Sub-Location, Kolwa Central," the statement read.

Police said the five suspects, aged between 19 and 24, are believed to be members of a criminal gang that has been carrying out night-time attacks in Lolwe, Mambo Leo, Ogango and adjacent neighbourhoods.
"Five individuals, aged between 19 and 24 and suspected to be part of the criminal gang that has been terrorising residents at night within Lolwe, Mambo Leo, Ogango, and adjacent neighbourhoods, were apprehended at the scene," the statement added.
During the operation, officers recovered two knives, one sword and two wooden clubs, which have been retained as evidence.
The suspects were taken to Migosi Police Station, where they will remain in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.
This arrest comes just days after detectives arrested three suspects over a violent home invasion in Chiga, Kisumu East Sub-County, that was captured on CCTV and widely shared online, triggering public outrage.
In that operation, detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) in Nyanza and DCI Kisumu East arrested Reagan Otieno Silvester, who police believe was among the robbers captured on CCTV carrying away a stolen 55-inch television during the July 30 robbery.
His arrest led detectives to Kadibo Sub-County, where Christopher Onyango Okoth and Fidel Omondi were also arrested. However, another suspect, Mohamed Ramadhan alias Moha, managed to escape after allegedly scaling a perimeter wall.
Police later searched Mohamed Ramadhan's rented house in Nyang'ande and recovered an imitation firearm resembling a pistol, along with several SIM cards. A separate search of Reagan Otieno's residence also led to the recovery of property believed to have been stolen during previous robberies.
