Sifuna Reveals How Much Kenyans Have Contributed to the Linda Mwananchi Paybill

On Friday, August 7, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna revealed that Kenyans have raised Ksh10 million for Linda Mwananchi through its Paybill Number.

Speaking during a Linda Mwananchi tour in Busia County, Sifuna stated that the contributions from the people have enabled him to conduct nationwide rallies.

He laughed off claims that he could not manage the expenses that come with holding tours across the counties, stating that the people would support him with the little they have.

"The money sent to the paybill number has crossed the Ksh10 million mark. That is how we have managed to hold this tour and the one we will hold in Homa Bay," Sifuna stated.

Linda Mwananchi received multiple contributions after the patron gave out the movement's paybill number during a radio interview. The political faction launched a second fundraising drive, where Kenyans were asked to contribute just Ksh100 on the paybill.

The Senator ridiculed President William Ruto for spending money to win Kenyan's support, amid the thousands of Kenyans being invited to State House. He stated that despite splashing millions on voters, the outcome in the 2027 General Election would remain unchanged.

Sifuna maintained his castigation of Ruto's Affordable Housing Programme. He maintained that the slums in Kenya were an income crisis, not a housing crisis, and further questioned why some slums were still standing despite the construction of the affordable houses.

"Tell us which slum you have closed down since you started building the affordable houses. In Nairobi, Kibera, Mathare, Mukumu and Kwa Njenga slums were there before he came into office and they are still present to date despite the multiple houses he has built," he stated.

The former ODM Secretary General also called out Ruto for claiming that the number of Kenyans registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA) was proof that the new health scheme had resolved the health funding crisis.

He reminded him that when he launched the project, he promised that people would stop holding harambees to clear medical bills, yet the practice still happens across the country.

Sifuna further clapped back at claims allegedly made by the Head of State questioning his experience to lead the country.

"He claims I have no experience. What experience does one need to understand that you cannot lob teargas into a church, shoot the youth on their legs, or abduct youths like Albert Ojwang and kill them in police cells?" He posed.

Sifuna was on a tour of Busia County and is expected to hold his first rally in Homa Bay County.
