Former Public Service CS Moses Kuria has claimed that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is being fattened for slaughter.

Former Public Service CS Moses Kuria has claimed that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is being fattened for slaughter.

Speaking during an interview on Sunday, August 9, Kuria alleged that Sifuna is yet to have a political party and a formidable presidential team with a year remaining before the 2027 general election.

“Edwin Sifuna is being prepared for slaughter; he is being fattened for slaughter,” Kuria claimed.

He added, “Tomorrow is August 10, exactly one year before the next general election; he has no political party. Look at the people in his team in terms of sustaining a presidential campaign. With all profound respect, I don’t think the person who is going to come with a winning strategy is Boni Khalwale.”

The former CS argued that Sifuna and the Western region are being hyped that they deserve the country’s top position and should not play second fiddle to anyone.

However, Kuria claimed that DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta have already settled on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as their preferred presidential candidate in the 2027 general election.

“Uhuru Kenyatta and Rigathi Gachagua don’t agree on many things, but they have agreed on one: who is their candidate. As sure as day follows night, the candidate for Gachagua and Uhuru is Kalonzo Musyoka. It’s already been decided,” Kuria claimed.

Further, Kuria opined that the political push around Sifuna could be aimed at positioning him as Kalonzo's potential running mate in the 2027 presidential contest.

“In their opinion, they are hyping up Sifuna so that he can become Kalonzo’s running mate. Sifuna is a brilliant young man, but I don’t think they gave him a memo that he is being prepared for the running mate position,” Kuria added.

His remarks come at a time when Sifuna is consolidating his support base, especially in the Western region ahead of the 2027 election.

Sifuna, who is part of Linda Mwananchi, has been holding a series of rallies in Western and other perceived ODM strong bases.

On July 19, during a Linda Mwananchi rally in Taita Taveta County, Sifuna hinted at vying for the presidency.

The Nairobi Senator said he is prepared for bigger roles after he was ousted from the ODM Secretary General and Senate Deputy Minority Whip positions.

"The last time I was here, I held many positions and titles. They waited for my father (Raila) to die, and then came and stripped me of everything. Today, I am no longer called the Secretary General (SG) and the Senate Deputy Minority Leader.

“But the youth have told me that today I am being elevated from SG to become His Excellency (HE),” said Sifuna.
