UDA Reschedules Tana River County Grassroots Election

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has rescheduled its grassroots election in Tana River County.

In a statement on Thursday, August 13, UDA National Elections Board Chairperson Anthony Mwaura said the election will now be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Mwaura noted that the elections will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The Tana River grassroots election was initially set to be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

“Following a consultative meeting held with Leaders and Stakeholders from Tana River County, the National Elections Board hereby notifies all Party Members and Prospective Aspirants that the Grassroots Election in Tana River County, previously scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, has been rescheduled to Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m,” read the statement in part. 

Mwaura urged all party members and prospective aspirants in Tana River County to take note of the revised date and make the necessary preparations.

“All Party Members, Prospective Aspirants and Stakeholders are kindly requested to take note of the revised Election date and make the necessary preparations accordingly,” Mwaura added. 

This comes a month after Mwaura announced that UDA will conduct a fresh grassroots election in Tana River County. 

In a notice on Thursday, July 9, Mwaura said the decision was reached after a consultative meeting with leaders from the county. 

“Following a consultative meeting held with Leaders and Stakeholders from Tana River County, the National Elections Board hereby notifies all Party Members and Prospective Aspirants that it has resolved to conduct a fresh grassroots election in Tana River County,” Mwaura stated. 

The UDA NEB Chairperson urged eligible party members and prospective aspirants to register and verify their details. 

“Eligible Members are invited to register and confirm their details strictly in accordance with the provided timelines in preparation for the Election,” Mwaura added.
