Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced the expansion of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) with the opening of a new party office in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
In a statement on Friday, August 14, Gachagua said the move was part of DCP’s efforts to establish a wider presence across the country.
"We are expanding every day in our quest to earn the mandate of the people of Kenya.
"Our mantra, listening to the people, is rooted in Chapter 1 of the Constitution of Kenya, and we are committed to acting in accordance with the wishes of the people," he wrote.

While opening the party’s office, Gachagua described the occasion as an important step in strengthening DCP’s presence in the constituency.
"Today, I had the honor of officially opening the DCP office in Naivasha Constituency, right here in Naivasha town," he added.
Speaking during the event, Gachagua alleged that President William Ruto is trying to divert the attention of Kenyans by attacking his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta.
The former DP claimed that Ruto was seeking to shift the national debate away from his administration's record by reigniting political discussions around Uhuru.
Gachagua alleged that the president’s remarks were intended to make Kenyans abandon the debate over the government's performance and instead focus on defending or criticizing Uhuru.
"William Ruto, in his usual style, tried to divert the attention of Kenyans by attacking President Uhuru Kenyatta so that Kenyans can abandon that debate and start defending Uhuru and castigating him," he stated.
Gachagua insisted that Ruto cannot divert the attention of Kenyans from his government’s performance record.
"We want to tell you, you cannot divert the attention of Kenyans from the discussion on your performance for four years, and that debate must go on," he added.
Further, Gachagua asked Ruto to leave Uhuru alone and instead face his actual competitors in the 2027 General Election.
"Leave President Uhuru Kenyatta alone; he is retired and face your competitor Rigathi Gachagua. That is the man you must face," he further said.
On Wednesday, Ruto claimed that Uhuru was envious of him because he had achieved what he could not in his 10-year rule.
Ruto stated that he would not be intimidated by the 'Wantam' talk, and argued that politicians allegedly sponsored to face him in 2027 should tell Kenyans what they had to offer.
"When you look at their sponsor, didn't he fail to deliver on Affordable Housing, Universal Healthcare Coverage, and Education? Now he has gone to sponsor his protegees to come and compete with me.
"I will defeat them early in the morning because they have no plan, agenda, policies, or vision," he stated.
