  • Muhoho Kenyatta is set to serve in the position for a period of three years.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has appointed President Uhuru Kenyatta's younger brother Muhoho Kenyatta a honorary warden for the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).

In a Gazette Notice issued on Friday, May 21, 2021, Balala confirmed Muhoho’s appointment alongside 300 others for a period of three years.

According to the notice, Muhoho has been appointed to serve at the Southern Conservation Area.

The position of honorary warden was created in 2013 with an aim of enlisting conservation enthusiasts to KWS in wildlife conservation and management.

According to KWS, a honorary warden’s main roles include; community engagement, conservation education and management, fundraising for wildlife conservation, wildlife security, and problematic animal management.

It is important to note that all those who’ve been appointed to the role submitted their applications in November 2020 when KWS advertised for the positions.

Additionally, all those appointed for the role are actively involved in wildlife conservation initiatives within the conservation area that they applied to be considered for.

Lastly, all the appointees demonstrated to the appointing authority how they’ll assist once they are appointed.
