The Kenya Meteorological Service Authority (KMSA) has predicted rainfall across 13 counties this week.
In a weather forecast on Tuesday, August 25, KMSA said rainfall is expected in Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale, Tana River, Lamu, Kirinyaga, and Embu counties.
Tharaka Nithi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Garissa, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties will also experience showers during the week.
However, the department said most parts of the country will be generally dry during the period.
“Most parts of the country are expected to be generally dry. However, some parts of Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale, Tana River, Lamu, Kirinyaga, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Garissa, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia Counties are likely to receive rainfall,” read the forecast in part.

The weatherman also predicted intermittent cool and cloudy conditions in Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang'a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Nakuru, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, Marsabit and Wajir counties.
At the same time, KMSA said daytime maximum average temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced in Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit and Turkana Counties.
In contrast, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado and Taita Taveta counties will experience night-time minimum average temperatures of less than 10°C.
This comes a week after the department forecast rainfall in nine counties between August 18 and 24.
According to a seven-day forecast issued on Monday, August 17, rainfall was expected in Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kisii, Lamu, Kericho, Nyandarua and Nyeri counties during the period.
Kenya Met also predicted intermittent cool and cloudy conditions in parts of Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Nakuru, Machakos, Kajiado and Marsabit counties.
The department further predicted high daytime temperatures in several parts of the country, with maximum average temperatures exceeding 30°C in much of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit, Turkana, eastern Kitui, Bungoma, Busia and Kakamega counties.
